Excellence in Art

Every year, a few students from Truman have their artwork chosen for Lindbergh's Excellence in Art. Students, teachers, principals and families all gather at the High School auditorium for a viewing of the artwork and a ceremony. All artwork will hang in the auditorium or central office for 1 year. I am very proud of these students and very grateful that they are at Truman. You kids rock!

5th grade is working collaboratively to make a recycled art project. They have been collecting, cutting and spray painting plastic bottles. Once assembled, the project will be an instillation piece at "The Hangar" in Crestwood mall over the summer.

2nd grade and Andy Warhol Pop Art Cakes

These 2nd graders are designing a Pop Art cake. They are full of fancy designs and brilliant colors.

5th grade and Andy Warhol

These 5th graders further explored Andy Warhol buy creating a linoleum print. They designed it, carved out the image and printed it. *trivia* Ask your 5th grader what Andy Warhol's real name was.

1st grade and Andy Warhol

These first graders learned about Andy Warhol, the Pop Art Superstar. They created a styrofoam picture and then used ink to make prints. It was very messy and fun!

Eric Carle- Picture Writer

The month of January is dedicated to Eric Carle, picture writer. Although he is most famous for his books, we study him as a famous artist. Did you know that not only does Eric Carle make his own collages but he makes his own paper as well?
